You are invited to a Saturday “Walk with the Doc”

Hope you are finding time for exercise this winter.  If walking works for
you then join me for a walk this Saturday.  My walking program is
about you, your health, and the opportunity to improve the health of
our community.  For most, staying fit over the winter months is a
challenge.  Perhaps you have an exercise plan that works well.  I’d
love to share your success story.

We need exercise to offset the consequences of sedentary living.
Fortunately, almost anything that burns calories and gets us moving
helps.  Studies show that a brisk walk can help lower your risk of high
blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and the effects of over
100 other health issues.

There is a reason why walking is often called the one best thing we
can do for our health.

Plan to join me in a fun Saturday activity that’s a step toward better
health.

More Ideas You Can Use

What is the best diet?-  A quick trip through Dr. Evans 'Nutrition 101
Class' provides the answer.

Let's Make Our Day Harder - Small changes in one behavior can impact
different parts of your life. Moving a little more every day can lead to
more energy, thinking better, stressing less, better sleep, better food
choices and more! Whether it’s parking at the back of the lot and walking
further, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, stretching before your
morning coffee, or going dancing after work, everything counts in Making
Your Day Harder!

What is the single best thing we can do for our health?  A Doctor-
Professor answers the old question "What is the single best thing we can
do for our health?" in a completely new way.

Library Book Clubs  - Love talking about a good book as much as you do
reading it? Then take a look at what the library book clubs are reading
next.  These book clubs are just as varied as the books you love!  Some
groups meet in the morning, some at lunch, and some at night. There are
meetings at several different branches, and each group tends to focus
on a different type of book.   Learn more at:  http://hmcpl.org/bookclubs

Need a little more motivation to start your fitness program.  The
public
library has motivational DVDs that can help you get in the mood.  Just
check online for availability before making a trip to pick one up at one on
the many branches of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.  On
a recent trip to the Bailey Cove branch, quite a few nice motivational
DVDs about walking for health were spotted.
